Welcome to Women’s Wellness Wednesday's with Melissa, brought to you by Northwest Medical Center.
This month were talking about mammograms and the contributing factors. Doctor Gary Wood, does having dense breasts put you at a higher risk for breast cancer?
Tissue density is a measurement when the mammogram is obtained in how well the x-ray penetrates through the tissue and thereís four classifications we use for determining what the breast density is. And thereís been a large discussion lately about whether or not an increase in breast density actually has a patient at a higher risk of breast cancer. Most of the recent literature shows that there may be a two time increase for patients who have dense breasts over those who donít.
Thank you so much! For more info call 877-4070 or visit NorthwestMedicalCenter.com.
