Welcome to Women’s Wellness Wednesday's with Melissa, brought to you by Northwest Medical Center.
All this month were talking about heart disease and the contributing factors. Dr. Greg Koshkarian, how can cholesterol be managed?
There's certain things you can do on your own, short of using medication. The most important is to cut down on your saturated fats, the other thing, and this goes into other components of cholesterol, is to cut down on simple carbohydrates. So starchy foods and sweets. Starches you eat when I say "simple" white is not as good as brown. So white rice isnít as good as brown rice, white bread is not as good as multigrain or wheat bread, so that's kind of how to think of your carbohydrates or your starches. So when you're looking at the labels on foods, that's what to concentrate on.
Thank you so much! For more info call 797-8550 or visit desertcardiology.com.
