So I moved here to Tucson from Fort Collins, CO right about the first of June, taking over the afternoon show post here at My 92.9. Since I've moved, the High Park Fire blew up in the mountains just a few miles west of Fort Collins where I've lived the last 12 years. It's now burned almost 60,000 acres and taken down 100+ homes, sadly. It's a beautiful area and I feel for my friends there. One of the components often forgotten with fires like this is the affect on the local wildlife!
Here's something crazy that happened this morning at the radio station where I worked! Our building was located easily 10 miles from the actual mountains, and it's a cool place because we had our own 4400 capacity amphitheatre right out back. No kidding... somehow a moose made the trek from the mountains to the amphitheatre at the radio station! They had to call in the CO Wildlife peeps and the cops to "apprehend" him. :) These are some of the pics I grabbed from my friends/former co-workers on Facebook. Don't worry ... they just gave him a little sleeping pill and are taking him back to the mountains in a safe place far away from that nasty fire.
He's hanging out by one of the our dressing trailers for the amphitheatre!

Now hanging out in the parking lot by the front doors!

Wildlife worker doing her thing to make sure he's healthy and comfy before they take him back home.

Moms... isn't this what it feels like to carry a sleeping kiddo to bed? Dead weight! :) He's being put into a trailer where he'll be taken back up to a safe place in the mountains where he'll wake up, maybe a little hungover, but perfectly healthy and safe.
